An Author’s Journey
Hey there, welcome to The Lavender Dawn. Ella Quill here. Let me tell you a bit more about myself and this site.
I am a young Christian author. I love the color blue (dusty aqua if we’re being specific 😉 ), snuggling with my pet rabbit, singing Christian theatre songs (Sight and Sound Theatres, anyone?), and spending time with friends and family.
I’ve been creating stories ever since I was very young. I started writing seriously in 2020, attempting to write my first novel. I wrote and finished it in less than 6 months, but it lay untouched for quite a time.
2022 was my debut as a published author, having several chapters published in the historical fiction anthology, The Epic Story of 1776. In 2023, my writing was published again in its sequel, The Epic Story of 1777-1779. Near the end of 2023, I published my novella, a Christmas fiction titled Tales from Bethlehem.
And through it all, I began working once more on my novel. The story that inspired me to become an author. It was time to share my story with the world. That novel is what you now see here: The Hidden Haven, the first book in a fantastical middle-grade series.
I’ve come a long way in those four years of learning and growing. I want to share what I’ve learned about being a writer and a self-published author. This blog is about me and my journey as an author.
I’ll be honest with you, writing a book isn’t as easy as you may think. There were the good days when I felt energized and excited about my book. And then there were the days when I didn’t want to touch my work in progress at all. However, it was worth it in the end. I cannot describe the feeling of holding my own book in my hands, knowing how much work it took.
So come along with me, and learn about this process, and enjoy getting a sneak peek into the life of a young author. You’re always welcome here.
God bless you all, and see you on the next page,
-E. Q.
